Integra Rehabilitation strives to enhance each individual's quality of life and functional abilities through its Dysphagia Program. Dysphagia indicates a disturbance in the normal transfer of food and liquid from the oral cavity to the stomach. This program serves as a guideline which allows therapists to design a Dysphagia treatment program that meets the individual needs of each patient. A patient's oral motor and swallowing skills may be targeted to allow for safe and functional intake of food and liquid.
Goals
Provide intervention for patients at nutritional risk
Minimize risk of aspiration
Promote compensatory strategies by patients / caregivers
Facilitate patient to maintain nutritional needs safely and functionally by mouth.
Promote effective aspiration precautions.
