Profile of Integra Associates

This month’s profile is on Erin Thaggard a Speech Language Pathologist and Director of Rehab at Lee County Health Care in Leesburg, GA. She has been a part of the Integra team for one and a half years.  Erin received her M. Ed. in Speech Language Pathology from Valdosta State University in 2005. She has been married for one year and moved from suburban town to a farm in the country. She and her husband only have one child, a Boykin Spaniel, Cooper. She enjoys books by Stuart Woods. She just completed a new “Endurance Program” for Lee County Health & Rehab to ensure rehab patients reach their highest potential.

She says the best part of her job is seeing someone eat their first meal after being on a PEG tube or hearing someone’s first intelligible word after having a CVA. The highlight of her career was when a patient who began with a trach and PEG and very debilitated was discharged home after several months with no trach and eating anything he wanted! Erin’s greatest challenge is not getting too emotionally attached.

As far as what keeps her going, “Seeing the difference I can make when someone is NPO and wishes to eat again and helping someone communicate again with their loved ones.”
